I've been so busy lately with our show, "A Slice of Saturday Night", which anyone on the Isle of Wight has to come and see. It was the first performance tonight and it went really well. In case anyone wants to know, I'm the lighting director so I'm not actually on stage. Back stage is more my thing. What else has been happening then? Well, I got my 'A' level results (A,A,B plus A in A/S Geography) and I'M GOING TO OXFORD UNI!!!! Hee, hee, hee!!! In case you can't tell, I'm really happy about that! I'm going to be going to Lincoln College to study classical Archaeology and Ancient History.

Work today was really boring. It was so quiet that we closed 15 minutes early. That's all I have to say about it. Hmmm..... My random mood has dissipated some what. I think I used up all my randomness at Perkin Warbeck. I wish I could say something profound, funny or interesting but I can't. Not at the moment anyway. That's one reason why I've filled up my blog with loads of quizes (that and the fact that they make it look pretty!!) and the pointless rambling I'm typing now. I dread to think how dull I must seem (or, perhaps, be...). Rachel's going camping tonight, which means I'll get my room to myself... cool. Well, I managed to spend ten days in Italy, where it was sunny every day and the temperature was over 30oc and still not get any form of a sun tan- quite an achievement I think you’ll agree. But that doesn’t matter because the trip was brilliant. For those who don’t know, I went with Jen, Kate and Sarah. We spent most of our time in Rome- went to the Vatican, the Colosseum (watch out for the lecherous centurions who hang around outside it), Nero’s Golden House, the Trevi Fountain, lots of churches and loads more. We did lots of walking, and, as a result of this trip, I would thoroughly recommend buying a pair of very comfortable and properly fitting sandals if you intend to spend a week walking around a boiling hot city, because giant blisters are not fun- I speak from experience. This probably wasn’t helped by the fact that, coming out of the Vatican museum, Jen, Kate and I took a wrong turn and ended up walking around the entire Vatican State, at midday (well, you know what Noel Coward said- only mad dogs and English men…!!), but it does mean that we can now truthfully say we have walked around an entire country. We also climbed to the top of the dome of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican (though not on the same day I hasten to add- we weren’t that mad!)- over 550 steps up (there would only have been 320 if we had taken the lift but we were too tight to pay the extra euro for it), and then of course all the way back down again. It was worth it though- the views over Rome were amazing. Inside the Basilica itself was breathtaking.

What else did we do? We spent a couple of days up in the mountains where it was a bit cooler. We spent ages walking to find the nearest shop to buy some food for a picnic lunch only to find we’d gone the wrong way. Once we had bought our lunch we ate it sitting on a bench that had the most wonderful view of the road, a wall and a bin. Stunning, I can tell you (!). We were going to go to the beach as well, but after spending a day travelling to get there we found out that the hostel was closed, so we travelled all the way back to Rome again.

Take Which
'fallen one' are you? Quiz by Xera

But I'm still only 50% evil...

You are 50% evil! [?]

You? In medieval Europe, dragons were considered mostly evil and a generally bad omen. Christianity linked the dragon with Satan because of the dragon's snake-like apperance. However, to the Orient cultures the dragon was a symbol of wisdom and royalty. It was a benign animal and the fifth creature of the Chinese zodiac. It resided over the east and the sunsrise. It was also said to bring rain and the springtime. The dragon is interesting because it combines all four elements: air, earth, fire, and water. It could fly, had the horns of a ox, breathed fire, and resided over the moon.

What mythical beast best represents you?Take the quiz!

I'm in Rome....

I'll write all about it when we get back on Saturday....

I'm in Italy...hee hee hee

Well, today was my last A level exam so I've finished school forever, which is really weird... the exam went OK, though it wasn't the best- I ran out of time, but never mind... can't do anything about it now.

I went to see Spider man again yesterday- it's a really good film and everyone should go and see it (it's better than Star Wars). I hope everyone saw the trailer for the next Harry Potter film on Newsround yesterday (the full-length trailer rather than the teaser trailer). It looks really good. Anyone who hasn't read the books or seen the first film should definitely do so- they're just really excellent (I'm sad, I know...!!!). Another thing everyone who can should do is give blood. I did again on Wednesday. What I would say, though, is don't listen to anyone who says it doesn't hurt, because it really does!!! Well, it's not that bad really but it still hurts. I just can't keep away!! I've just had a driving lesson, which was really good, and I'M GETTING BETTER (at driving, I mean- I don't have some mysterious illness that's suddenly curing itself!!)! Must remember to book my theory test, though. Anyway, I didn't know if I had history after school today so I finished my driving lesson at school and now have an hour to wait until school ends, probably ony to find out that I don't have history and I'm going to have to catch the school bus home. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Tamsin (the young librarian) is watching the football...oh...no...now she's reading the Radio Times- it's a hard life.

So, work this weekend... working in a shop would be OK if it weren't for all the customers...(!!). They seem to have some kind of pathalogical hatred for putting things back on the right shelf, even if it quite blatantly doesn't go where they put it, and they all insist on coming into the shop just as we're about to close. I suppose they're OK really, though. It would be quite boring to not have any customers. Then we'd have to spend all day dusting shelves, which, in a shop where the only thing we sell is glass, is not the easiest or most fun job in the world, and it's just as dusty half an hour later anyway. I also seem to have developed the strange ability of being able to take everything off a shelf to dust it and then when I come to putting it all back on it no longer all fits.

Anyhow, must go and do some more revision...

What Type of Villain are You?

mutedfaith.com /
<º>

Just got back from watching the Jubilee fireworks at Yarmouth, and am now watching Monty Python's "the Meaning of Life"- no. 5- organ donation. The fireworks were really good. Practically all the houses there were decorated with flag and bunting etc. It puts Totland's two-bits-of-scrappy-old-bunting-that-someone's-found-at-the-back-of-their-loft to shame really. To be fair, I haven't been down into Totland today, so there may have been more decorations put up, but that was the situation yesterday. I don't feel too bad though, because I live in Totland Bay, which is obviously a very different place and further from the sea than Totland is, and we've got Barry, who's put out flags and everything. So anyway, I'd just like to wish the Queen a happy Jubilee and all those anti-royalists can go and hide in a cupboard for the rest of the weekend.

OK, so my dad just turned the TV over and so now there's a programme about Chelsea football club and they're all singing. It's quite disturbing, particularly the rapping. I spent today revising Latin, and watching the Party at the Palace this evening (I'm just one big English royalist I'm afraid to say). My shopping last week was successful i.e. I actually spent quite a lot of money and have some nice new clothes. A coincidence? Me thinks not!

I had my brace taken off on Friday, having had it for three years, so for the whole weekend I couldn't stop licking my teeth. They're so smooth! But then today I had a retainer fitted, which I'm supposed to wear all the time for the next few months so that's a bit annoying. I didn't wear it today, though, because I can't talk properly with it on (ooohh, I'm so naughty!!). Never mind, I'm wearing it now.

I bought some new socks today. This brings my grand total of about three pairs without holes up to nine now. I don't know why all my socks have holes in them, they just sort of appear. I'm sure none of Rachel's have holes...

"Hit me with your rhythm stick- Scotland 3 Holland 2- hit me, hit me". Sorry. That's what comes of sitting in a rooom (or even a room) with a programme about football on the TV.

I've just come back from a meeting about Kaleidoscope's next production. We drew all over the stage with red chalk, just to confuse whoever goes in there next (there was a reason behind it really). It was quite a productive meeting, though it remains to be seen as to whether this will translate to the next rehearsal (I'm sure it will...).

I've got a driving lesson tomorrow! Then I might go and do some shopping in Newport (though I don't like spending money really so I'll probably end up walking around for five hours and go home having bought a bar of chocolate and a pencil). I might also do some revision, it being study leave...! It still hasn't really sunk in that I'm never going to go back to school again (unless, of course, I do spectacularly badly, fail all my exams and have to retake the year).

Anyhow, I shall depart now and leave you all with the fact that 323 years ago yesterday the Habeas Corpus Act was past. And did you know that St. Lucius is the patron saint of Copenhagen?

Well then, what's been going on recently? Friday was my last day at school EVER, which is really scary considering I've been going to school for the last 13 years and now I'm not. I also had a geography exam, which was OK but harder then the last one. In the evening Jen, Sarah and I stayed at Kate's house and watched "Harry Potter" and "A Knight's Tale" on DVD. Then on Saturday I went to work and then went home again just after lunch because my grandma died (that was a cheery day). TodayI went to work and in the evening to a rehearsal, which was good, and now I'm writing this. In 15 minutes it will be tomorrow so I shall go now.

Vale!

I have nothing to say, so I shall say precisely that.

Sometimes, people make me really angry. Today the mini bus to Alum Bay staff to work waited at the bus stop at Totland for a little while because some people wanted to go into the shop. One of the men from Weston Manor (a home for the mentally disabled) was also there, waiting for a bus (obviously). He's almost, well... normal (though I don't like using 'normal' because who am I, or anyone, to judge what is normal and what is not), not severely handicapped anyway. Two of the... well, they're my age, but they were acting like children so I'll call them boys... started shouting and jeering at him. What's worse is that practically everyone else on the mini bus thought this was hilarious. Now, maybe I just have an underdeveloped sense of humour or something, but I DON'T FIND THAT FUNNY. It really saddens and angers me that people can be so nasty and cruel because someone happens to be different. I just sat there, probably looking really serious and miserable, but I wish now I'd said something. They were just so....stupid and lacking in all originality, but still so malicious. Luckily I don't have to work with any of them- they're in different departments (though I do know a couple of them).

But anyway, on a lighter note, the glass makers spent the first part of this morning making cow noises over the PA system in the glass studio. Ours is not to wonder why...

I went to see Star Wars today. I really enjoyed it- not the best film I've ever seen perhaps (not as good as the original trilogy), but a lot better than the Phantom Menace- and very little Jar Jar Binks!!! Visually it was very good, but the script could have been better. Yoda fighting was the most amazing thing ever and there were some brilliant puns(if you substitute 'brilliant puns' for 'puns so terrible that they're almost worthy of Totland's pantomime') from C-3PO. On the whole it was good. The storyline is getting darker now... scary!

It's dark outside and the hamster is running in his noisy wheel.

I'm going to see Star Wars tomorrow. But even worse than buses are doorhandles and computer keyboards in school. I mean, just think how many people touch them everyday. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but it is quite horrible- all those germs. And NEVER sit down on the seats in the London Underground. A recent study found human hair, dead mice and loads of other really manky stuff in them.

I'm going to live the rest of my life in a glass box, with filtered air and bottled water.

I'm in a negative mood. I guess that shows just how interesting my life is at the moment.Nevermind (is that all one word??), I'll just ramble on about nothing. If I post a disclaimer now then it means if anyone does die of boredom whilst reading this blog then I can't be held responsible: read on at your own peril, though remember, only boring people get bored.

Baldwyn of Lymington, who died in 1736, requested that he be buried at sea, in Scratchell's Bay, because he overheard his wife saying that she was going to dance on his grave.

Just thought I'd share that with you...

Hmmm... It's almost midnight now... I'll probably go to bed soon because I've got work tomorrow (anyone on the Isle of Wight feel free to pop in to Alum Bay Glass and spend lots of money). I'm just waiting for my computer to reconnect so I can post this. Maybe it'll be a good thing if it doesn't!

Yay! Monday off school! I can have a whole day to revise- won't that be fun! (For those who don't know me and are randomly reading this blog- if that's the case, then welcome- I was being sarcastic then).

Got to go now- the clock on the computer says it's seven minutes past midnight, though I wouldn't trust it to be that accurate- it's a bit like my watch- no matter how many times you adjust it, it's still wrong. It's like it has its own little corner of the space-time continuum which is unlike any other- it shares it with York and the Isle of Wight. The Isle of Wight's been stuck in a time warp for about the past 60 years- maybe it's a result of having such a large proportion of old people- they have the same kind of effect that planets etc. have on the fabric of space-time, but instead of resulting in gravity they just affect time (though black holes etc. can slow time, can't they? Does that mean old people are some kind of variation on a singularity? I want to live to be one-hundred- if I do then I'll let you know if I become a singularity and start absorbing light. Maybe that would explain why the lights were always on in the old people's home I used to work in- the residents were absorbing it all so there needed to be a constant supply). York is slightly different- the York Phenomenon is spatial rather than temporal- whichever way you go there you always arrive where you wanted to be... anyhow, I'm not making any sense now- even less in fact than I did at the beginning so goodbye for now! I'll leave you with this thought (not of my own composition, unfortunately):

'One day as I sat musing, sad and lonely and without a friend, a voice came to me out of the gloom saying:
"Cheer up, things could be worse."
So I cheered up and sure enough things got worse.

Well, this is my first post and I don't really know what to write. I've spent four days trying to think of a name for my blog and "Made in Taiwan" is the best I could come up with- it's sad really. I also keep putting capital 'i's in the middle of sentences (not capital eyes- that would just be silly). I can't think of much more to say at the moment so I'm going to go now...
